I belong to a Hindu Gujarati family, and I gave my life to Christ 16 years ago in 2006. Before accepting Jesus, I followed religious practices and rituals very dutifully.
During this time, I was introduced to occult practices and black magic through my relatives. The control and power that exuded from these practices were what attracted me to them. People would come to me with problems, difficulties, sickness or issues in relationships and I would show them how to get free from those problems through the different methods that I had learnt to relieve them of their troubles.
I thought this was my search and I started running after this knowledge day and night so that I could be filled with power. I was getting more involved in these practices and became successful in solving the issues of people and finding answers to their problems.
One day one of my relatives who followed these practices did some Blackmagic on my own mother and she became possessed with some other powers. I tried to apply all the methods I knew to make my mother better. I also went to my teacher who had taught me these practices. He gave me some other methods to follow. There was some temporary relief, but my mother was deteriorating in health, feeling depressed and suffocated. She felt that she was going to die soon.
I stopped having faith in those practices because I felt that my own problems were not getting solved so how could I solve other people’s problems?
My parents are both tailors and many people would give advice about various solutions and show us different ways. We went to doctors, gurus and wisemen, but didn’t find any change and we were very worried for my mother.
One day a Christian woman came to get her clothes stitched and while chatting with her, my mother shared about her state of mind and being. She said ‘you have tried various things, but the doors have not been unlocked, let me tell you about a key that will unlock all the doors. She told us about the powerful name of Jesus and how He gives deliverance to our souls. She encouraged us to fast every Friday and when she prayed and spoke from the word of God that day, as is written in
Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing ALL that were oppressed.”
Week after week, we saw my mother getting better and stronger through prayer and fasting. My mother started having faith in Jesus and believed that there is one God and He sent Jesus for her deliverance. She joined a church fellowship and every week we had a house group at our place where people prayed for us.
I still couldn’t see the power behind her healing and go back to following those practices which I had been doing in the past. But now I felt they were not effective any longer, as the power of prayer in the name of Jesus that happened in my house was overpowering all the other things. I was disturbed and confused; I didn’t want to believe in anything anymore.
One night I cried and asked God to show me signs of who HE is. As I cried, God showed me that I was misled in my thoughts about who God is and what His real power is. God also revealed to me that He hears our prayers and sets us free from our confusion and bondage. At that moment, I felt liberated and reconciled and I was convicted in my heart that Jesus is my Lord. I started spending time in prayer and reading the word of God and my faith in Jesus started increasing. I thank God that my whole family came to know Jesus Christ as their Savior.
When I joined the Satsang, I understood that God speaks to us through His word.
I realized that God loves me and cares for me and He is a living God. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.
I learnt how to worship, how to read the bible and live the life God wants us to live based on His word. God chose me to serve His Kingdom when I was ordained as a Pastor by Pastor Anil Kant in the Satsang and He has given me a wonderful Satsang family around the world.
I am grateful for what God has done by bringing me out of darkness and choosing me to become a servant of God and preach the word. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me”, I always remember the saving grace of Jesus and I rejoice in serving Him and His people through this wonderful ministry.
